The Episcopal Church's Vocation: Standing in the Radical Middle

As a life-long Episcopalian, I deeply love our church and our polity. I love the fact that we are called to value our tradition--Holy Scriptures, the Ecumenical Councils of the Church, the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral (See BCP 876 f.), The Book of Common Prayer, and Canons of the Episcopal Church.  Beyond these important statements of belief, there is room for inquiry, questioning, and doubt.

Flower Power

There are times in the life of a parish where small acts of creativity point to a larger reality. Now at St. Paul's is one of those times. A small, but faithful group of folks has been quietly planting flowers around the property.

There is a danger in liturgical worship that it can become an end in and of itself. As a friend of mine has called it, "a lovely tea party!" And yet, there is another tendancy to run madly off in some just cause trying to "fix" the world. Somewhere in the middle is the real liturgy-the work of the people.
