About St. Paul's on-the-Hill

St. Paul's on the Hill was founded in 1854 and is one of the oldest Episcopal Churches in Minnesota. To learn more about the Episcopal Diocese of Minneasota visit www.episcopalmn.org In fact, Henry Benjamin Whipple, the first Bishop of the diocese, was nominated by the Rector of St. Paul's and the electing convention was held at St. Paul's at its Ninth Street and Olive St. location.

We have  a proud history of excellence in worship rooted in the Anglo-catholic branch of the Episcopal Church (see Worship.).  Indeed, as a progressive parish, we value our heritage, but are grounded in the present. Mystery, beauty, and a profound respect for the Prayer Book tradition are core values as we seek to offer our very best in worship to the praise and glory to God.

We are an open and affirming congregation that values diversity. Indeed, we are proud of the fact the the first woman on a Vestry from Minnesota was elected at St. Paul's, and the Rev. Jeanette Piccard, one of the first women priests in the Episcopal Church, was a long-time member.

We actively welcome GLBT individuals and couples, and are home of an Integrity Circle . In addition, we seek to be a multi-cultural community of faith where diverse theological perspectives join in a common comunity life formed and deepened in worship.

We have a strong tradition of being committed to the transformation of ourselves and society in the areas of peace, care for creation, and social justice. We invite you to join these efforts in a way that fits for you. For more information see Justice.
St. Paul's vision is to focused on three areas:

+Radical Hospitality + Inspiring Worship + Passionate Advocacy+
